Just adding some data to help define what a "Nanhattan" is. Veeco controls about two thirds of the global SPM market. Veeco spends $60 million annually on Research and Development. A reasonable approximation for the world's SPM R + D spending is $100 million dollars. So any entity that can sink more than this annually into SPM engineering, can potentially mount a Nanhattan. Military agencies would have more resources and infrastructure available to keep such a project covert.
