Convergent assembly refers to the idea of combining tiny products to make less tiny ones, and doing that repeatedly at many scales until large products are produced from nanoscale products. Convergent assembly is the proposed solution to the small size of the products of Mechanosynthesis. A vast number of mechanosynthetic systems, operating in parallel, could supply inputs to a convergent assembly system.

This category should go away. It was originally created to justify that molecular manufacturing can scale. But it turns out there are other approaches than convergent assembly. These are pointed to from the Nanofactory category.
